Deveraux Road Loft Conversion, SW11, Wandsworth
In addition to a basement conversion, our clients wanted to make the most of their loft space with a Mansard loft conversion. This included a rear addition and alternations to the ground and first floor of their Central London home.
Mansard loft conversions provide more headroom and usable floor space than any other loft conversion type. The rooms in these conversions are also a lot easier to furnish since there are fewer awkward angles where the roof line meets the floor.
These loft conversions almost always require planning permission since the external changes are quite extensive. We work with a number of RIBA accredited architects to manage the design and planning processes.
Since we were already applying for consent from the local authority, we added French doors and a Juliette balcony to the conversion to let more light in. These always require planning permission since they can have an impact on neighbour privacy.
Timber sash windows were installed on the rear addition, with Velux windows on the front elevation. As always, we matched the external materials to the existing house to ensure that the loft addition blends in with the overall aesthetic of the house and the other houses on the street.
